Why are 'Ladies Only' health clubs able to operate?

I was a member of a men's swimming club which had run for over 50 years. Unfortunately, the club no longer operates as we were hounded by a bunch of feminists who claimed that we were sexist bigots. What is the difference between our club and the ladies only heath clubs I see operating?

2. Time will knock that down. A few lawsuits will put them out of business. I know here in Las Vegas, they have places where ladies can join free etc. And they seem to get away with it.

4. huh that cant be true, unless your club was hoggong the resources for the entire area (i.e. swimming pool)? There are alternative gyms for men to go to in every place there is a womens only gym, thats why
5. While I tend to agree with the sentiment, and while I definitely share your opinion with regard to double-standards in discrimination laws... ... I do have to wonder why guys would want men-only anything? There are definitely valid reasons for women to want to get semi-naked without leering men around, but a guy-only environment just seems like you're going out of your way to shoot yourself in the foot.
6. In theory I sympathise, although I think the difference between a legitimate single-gender environment and an unreasonably discriminatory one lies in your reasons for enforcing it. I can't think of a good reason for a men's-only swimming club myself, perhaps you could add a valid justification.
7. Good question. Thats pretty ridiculous for it to shut down since theres gyms/clubs that only accept women. I think it is because at a gym or a club that accepts both men and women, women feel like they're stared at by some of the men. Some feel like they're being looked at like a peice of meat. I've felt that way before. But I dont understand why they could shut that swimming club down. Maybe in the state laws that you live in theres something about no "men" clubs.
8. Men probably could join if they truly wanted to, you can call it what you want, but the law is the law. Women need to have a seat, they wouldn't want some boy impeding on their daughter girl scouts.
9. these feminists are in a group only to cause trouble for people.also thay might have been put up to it because of company computition.other clubs want some of your wealth.
